On February 24th, in cities across the country, thousands of workers will be standing up for the freedom to join together in strong unions. We will be calling for equitable pay for our work, affordable health care, quality schools, vibrant communities and a secure future for all of us. We will also be calling an end to our rigged economy that favors the wealthiest and most powerful.
Join us on Saturday the 24th at 10:30am at the state Capitol Rotunda to stand together and hold our leadership accountable to our vision for a better Minnesota.
In late February, the Supreme Court will hear Janus v. AFSCME Council 31. This case is the culmination of decades of attacks on working people by corporate CEOs, the wealthiest 1% and the politicians that do their bidding to rig the economy in their favor. The forces behind it simply do not believe that working people should have the same freedoms and opportunities as they do.
As Dr. King told striking sanitation workers in Memphis fifty years ago, “Freedom is not something that is voluntarily given by the oppressor. It is something that must be demanded by the oppressed.”
