Feb 9, 2018 1:54:10 PM

MMA would like to welcome Melissa Scheid as our new Business Representative. Melissa began her journey with MMA on February 7 and will be sharing duties with fellow business representative, Robyn Cousin.

Melissa is joining the team with 10 years of human resources experience.  She has spent the past 5½ years working for the State of Minnesota interpreting various state contracts, including MMA and participating in MMA master and supplement negotiations, SEIU negotiations, AFSCME supplemental negotiations, and MGEC negotiations. During her time with the State of Minnesota, she has gained experience managing and providing consultation with regard to grievances, loudermill hearings, and employee misconduct investigations.

Melissa has two bachelor’s degrees in finance and management with a human resources concentration from St. Cloud State University. Additionally, she has a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Bethel University. While working for the State of Minnesota, she also graduated from the Department of Human Services L4 leadership program.

Throughout her professional career, some of her guiding principles have been leading by example and building strong relationships both within and across agencies.  As a business representative, Melissa is especially looking forward to continuing these philosophies as she partners with supervisors, agencies, and other labor entities.

Melissa grew up in Zimmerman, MN and currently resides there.  In her spare time, Melissa loves spending time with her family, including her parents, twin sister, brother-in-law, nieces, and nephew. Also, she loves to kayak with her best friend in the summer months.  Another activity she really enjoys is traveling. She has visited England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands, Africa, Jamaica, and the Bahamas among numerous states within the US. As an avid sports fan, she often finds herself rooting for Minnesota teams, which of course includes the Vikings, Twins, Wild, Timberwolves, and Lynx.
