Each year Middle Management Association may award up to twenty-five (25) scholarships of $1,500 each to MMA members, spouses and/or dependent children of MMA members toward the attainment of a degree or certificate of an accredited educational institution. The scholarship program is for traditional educational based coursework where a diploma is the end result.
An eligible applicant is a dues paying MMA member, and/or a legally married spouse, and/or a dependent child*, who is working towards the attainment of either an academic degree at an accredited college, university or technical school certificate of training program.
MEMBERS OF THE SCREENING COMMITTEE AND THEIR DEPENDENT CHILDREN ARE EXCLUDED FROM CONSIDERATION.
Obtain an official application form from the MMA office or print a copy from the MMA website. Submit the completed official application form to the MMA office via email between January 15th and March 15th of each year.
APPLICATIONS RECEIVED IN THE MMA OFFICE AFTER 4:30 PM MARCH 15th WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. NOTE: IF MARCH 15TH FALLS ON A SATURDAY OR SUNDAY, APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL 4:30 PM ON THE FOLLOWING BUSINESS DAY.
A 1-2 page personal statement written by the applicant is required to accompany the application form. The personal statement should include the applicant’s current GPA, career and educational goals, work experience, academic and extracurricular experiences, community involvement, personal interests, activities and why this scholarship is important to you and your anticipated graduation date.
Before scholarship money is awarded, scholarship recipients must provide an official grade transcript verifying course completion with at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average over the academic school year from a post-high school accredited educational institution. The deadline to submit required documents is September 1st following the scholarship award period. Payment for all awards will occur between September 2nd and 15th. Late submissions forfeit their scholarship.
MMA members must be a full paying member at the time of the award announcement and retain full paying membership while MMA eligible. Any exception will be reviewed and may be revoked by the MMA Executive Committee. These scholarships are not renewable. Scholarship recipients may reapply each year. Eligible course dates are defined as the start of the fall session (August 1st) through the end of the summer session (July 31st).
* As defined in the MMA Labor Agreement under Article 17 – Insurance, second paragraph, Section 2.C2 – “dependent child”.
